Soothing anti-redness serum with AmelioSense™

How to formulate Soothing Anti-Redness Serum with AmelioSense™ - for delicate Skin

If the skin is irritated and reddened, if it reacts to changing temperatures and other environmental influences with irritation, it is quickly labeled as hypersensitive skin. Such a skin type makes the choice of care products immensely difficult. Yet all those affected want to alleviate the symptoms. Symptoms such as reactive, irritated and flushed skin.

In many cases, they reach for rich products that form an occlusive film on the skin to reduce trans epidermal water loss or, rather, for light gel formulations that are low in care so that the skin can breathe.

It is worth a try, but not necessarily the right approach for this challenge. The irritated skin needs to be soothed so that irritation and redness decrease, and regeneration can begin.

Care products for hypersensitive skin therefore need raw materials that support the skin barrier on the one hand and a calming active ingredient like AmelioSense™ on the other.

Therefore, I am introducing the thin liquid “Soothing Anti-Redness Serum with AmelioSense™ for delicate Skin”.

For this skin treatment serum, I use proven care components such as squalane and glycerin, but also rice germ, almond and jojoba oils. This allows me to achieve a balance between skin barrier-strengthening care and a light formulation.

The production is an energy-saving cold process, although a little more time must be factored in to produce the aqueous phase. In the laboratory, I allow 60 minutes for the preservative to dissolve completely and for a smooth gel to form.

While the solubilization and hydration phases were taking place, I prepared the oil phase. Since this does not need to be heated because it consists exclusively of natural oils and a liquid emulsifier, I mix all the components together and stir them slowly until a homogeneous phase is obtained.

Then I homogenize the oil phase into the gelled water phase. As a final step, I adjust the pH value to a skin-neutral level using citric acid solution (30%).

Because hypersensitive skin can also react to perfume, we decided against a fragrance this time. However, there are also specially formulated fragrances for delicate skin.

A roll-on tube with small metal balls in the applicator is ideal for this easily dispenseable formulation. This allows the serum to be carefully applied directly to the areas of skin in need of care, without much hand movement. But it can also be used all over the face.

I hope that my formulation has provided you with inspiration for your next development project and I wish you many creative ideas with our new active ingredient AmelioSense™.
